Susan Villanueva, is perhaps the only Filipino artist cum university teacher based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) that literally demonstrate art success through creative mentorship.

She hones her art skills by reading, doing photography and exploring how she can fuse all these hobbies into creating new technologies in the application of her art. Adept at using digital mediums and moving them to her solid canvases spells the unique art works that heightens Susan’s brand of artistry.

Having exhibited her works internationally and mounted several solo art shows in UAE, Susan is not only successful in transforming her evocative and digital ideas into the physical form. The quality of her work conjures the viewers to think and subliminally immerse themselves into the art pieces. Strongly influenced by great masters such as Vincent Van Gogh and Picasso, her abstraction paintings makes you glued to her pieces drawing you deeply into the innerness of her thoughts and emotions.

When asked what inspires her to creating excellent abstract repertoires, Susan remarked, “Both my children and my family inspires me the most. I draw strength from them to come up with pieces that are always unique. The love of exploring and actualizing new ideas is always a perk. When given a design assignment or art commissions, I am never daunted by the task. All the more it challenges me to deliver something new each time.”

She added, “My love for simple photography was an interest I developed while doing my work or holiday travels annually. It is a good gap-filling exercise allowing me to experiment with my subjects while capturing them during those precious moments.”

Susan’s favorite medium is oil and acrylic, although she paints using other mediums such as watercolour, oil and chalk pastels and even crayons. Many of her current pieces also infuses mix mediums where you will evidently notice that her innovative use of hues and texture makes viewers linger more on the magnificence of her vivid colored works.

A person who loves music, quiet moments, reflections, creating art, and travelling. The love of exploring new technologies in the application of art has always been an interest. Spare moments are often spent reading, cooking, doing outdoor photography and singing some favourite old songs.

Painting with various media - may it be oil, watercolour, acrylic, oil pastel, chalk pastel and even just crayons - is always a dream.

Designing, the love for exploring and actualizing new ideas, is always a perk. Complicated job assignments are never daunting.

Hardly anyone can argue what ART is. It is freewheeling. There are no absolutes. But it takes discipline to create.

The love for simple photography is an interest while traveling here and abroad. It is a good company to fill up your time. Experimenting subjects and capturing precious moments are always a part of discovering.
